The collection chronicles both the events surrounding the shooting of Yoshihiro Hattori and the repercussions that followed, including the Haymakers' activism efforts, their trip to Japan, and President Clinton's meeting with the Hattori family. It consists of newspaper clippings, correspondence, civil trial papers, videotapes, audiotapes, CD's, books, magazines, and records of various groups formed in the wake of the killing.

Yoshihiro Hattori was a Japanese exchange student living with the Haymaker family of Baton Rouge. In October 1992, Yoshi, confused about the address of a party, mistakenly knocked on the door of the Peairs family. Rodney Peairs shot and killed Yoshi.
